Marketing and Sales Representative
Texas Student Media provides valuable experience to students for their future careers, an opportunity for financial reward along the way, and a chance to make new friends and network with colleagues. Working under the guidance of marketing and sales professionals in the Advertising department, students will interact directly with current and prospective customers from local and national businesses and their agencies.
With a focus on new business development, marketing consultation and account management, students serving as Marketing and Sales Representatives gain experience pertinent to a wide range of career paths. The program provides a strong foundation to build confidence and improve skills in business communications, sales, event management and customer service. Former students have gone onto careers in pharmaceutical and software sales, tech startups, ad agencies, and Fortune 500 companies.
Marketing and Sales Representatives earn commission for advertising space and time sold in various Texas Student Media outlets, including digital and printed publications, television, radio, websites, podcasts and special events. Students who have completed at least one semester as Marketing and Sales Representatives may apply for managerial roles, which include additional stipends. Second-semester students may also be eligible to apply for internship academic credit.
“My time at TSM was great in building a solid foundation in learning how to navigate a role, building a strong team, and leadership both inside and outside the office. These skills are crucial and invaluable for life post graduation. I have carried these skills on multiple roles in companies like Oracle and TikTok! I am very grateful for my time at TSM and would highly recommend it to any Longhorn!”
